Here are some ways to keep your Weevil in great condition!
- Hold your necklace by the sterling silver chain, especially when putting it on and off.
- Try not to touch the paint if you can. The beetle's shells are hand painted with a paint pen. The paint pen is considered to be highly durable; however, it could still be marked or scratched if care is not taken.
- Avoid getting it wet. It's best to avoid wearing your necklace in heavy rain, in the ocean or in the shower, as the copper and sterling silver chain can discolour.
- Keeping it clean... avoid using alcohol based products on your necklace. Use a polishing cloth on the silver chain. The copper body layer has been oxidised (a black patina added to the surface). This can rub off overtime so cleaning should be kept to a minimum to prolong its longevity. Should you wish to have the weevil re-oxidised if the patina has worn away, just contact me and I can arrange this service.
