Poppy Brooch.
Red poppy flowers represent consolation, remembrance and death.
The poppy is a common symbol that has been used to represent everything from peace to death and even simply sleep. Since ancient times, poppies placed on tombstones represent eternal sleep.
Made from recycled copper this brooch is hand forged using metal stamps and a hammer to create intricate poppy detail.
Each poppy is hand stamped, hand sawn and the edges filed smooth. The brooch is then sanded to remove any imperfections or scratches and polished to a light shine. A pressure clasp pin or industrial magnet is then glued to the back and left to dry for up to three days to ensure a proper curing process.
Each poppy seed measures approximately 60mm tall and 30mm wide.
They are available in a blackened oxide / patina finish.
The oxide / patina is a surface treatment that will wear away over time, revealing the metal below. This is exacerbated if cleaned too much, so I recommend only cleaning when necessary. Should you wish to have them re-oxided after the patina has worn away, just contact me and I can arrange this service.
This brooch is available with a traditional squeeze and release pressure clasp for ease of use or industrial strength magnets (1kg pulling power per magnet) eliminating holes in your clothing.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have a pacemaker then the magnetic brooch is NOT suitable for you as it could interfer with the machine's performance. The magnets can also be a choking hazard for small children so please take care.
