MISTLETOE MOTH BROOCH
Love insects? This Australian Mistletoe Moth brooch is a great way to show it! With its black wings and hand-painted white markings, it's a little piece of Australian wildlife you can wear.
Measuring approximately 75mm wide and 35mm tall, this larger-style brooch features the moth's distinctive zigzag wing patterns against oxidised copper.
Made with industrial magnets, your clothes will never get holes again. Not a fan of magnets? That's cool, choose the barrel pin clasp instead.
Handcrafted from recycled and oxidised copper with hand-painted white details, this design is inspired by the Australian Mistletoe Moth (Comocrus behri), a day-flying moth found across mainland Australia.
Jewellery Care:
Here are some ways to keep your Mistletoe Moth Brooch in great condition!
- Hold your brooch by the edges or the backing magnet especially when putting them on and off.
- Try to not touch the front of the brooch if you can. The flat unstamped surfaces can become marked and scratched over time.
- Avoid getting them wet. It's best to avoid wearing your brooch in heavy rain or in the shower, as the copper and industrial magnet can discolour, and the paint pen can become dull.
- Keeping them clean... its best to do nothing. The copper body has been oxidised (a black patina added to the surface). This can rub off overtime so cleaning should be kept to a minimum to prolong its longevity. Should you wish to have them re-oxidised if the patina has worn away, just contact me, and I can arrange this service.
- Store them safely. All Meekz Contemporary Jewellery come in their own gift box which will keep your brooch clean, protected and stop it sticking to all other metal things.
