Here are some ways to keep your Blue Banded Bee in great condition!
- Hold your earrings by the shepherd hooks, especially when putting them on and off.
- Try not to touch the vinyl or patina if you can. The beetle's abdomen has a black patina, which can wear off if rubbed or cleaned. The blue vinyl underneath is considered to be highly durable and scratch resistant; however, it could still be marked.
- Avoid getting them wet. It's best to avoid wearing your earrings in heavy rain or in the shower, as the brass and sterling silver hooks can discolour.
- Keeping them clean... avoid using alcohol based products on your earrings. Use a microfiber cloth or soft cloth. The brass body layer has been left to naturally age, so it will turn a darker golden yellow over time. Should you wish to have them re-polished, just contact me, and I can arrange this service.
